church farm

not realised

A large scale and rather vacant, part derelict, yet important site offered the chance to re-establish some closure and re-establishment of an historic farmstead.

Three contemporary, low energy timber-clad houses were configured to leave the historic buildings and ranges both materially and geometrically distinct and undisturbed.

This scheme represents the clear ethos and distinction between genuine historic fabric to be restored and the contemporary need to rehabilitate areas to exacting sustainable standards, in the interests of maintaining and inspiring viable rural communities.
